Yes the fees associated is lesser if you hire a transfer helper that is located in Singapore. As you do not have a middleman, you can hire a local transfer helper for $500-$600 in fees. The major expenses are Insurance + Security bond, Medical checkup, Work Permit.
However, choosing an accredited agency has its benefits. They help to ensure a smooth process that’s legally compliant, offers training for helpers and have a replacement guarantee.
For hiring of helpers that are overseas, additional fees may apply and involving an agency will be advisasble due to changing laws & regulations in each country.
For helpers that are located locally, once your documents are approved by MOM, a transfer maid can usually start in just 3–5 working days.
For helpers that are located overseas, it usually takes 1-2.5 months, depending on the country and its processing rules.
You can do that if they are already in the country you are based in. We would advise you to at least conduct a video call with them via their WhatsApp listed in their profile.
